At 11.00am this morning, Thai forces, heavily armed and equipped with earthmoving machinery, advanced into the An Ses area that is recognised as Cambodian sovereign territory, according to a statement by Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Maly Socheata.

“Despite strong objections from Cambodian forces, the Thai military continued to push forward and even set up barbed wire positions,” it stated, noting that Cambodia arranged a visit by foreign military attachés to those locations on July 30, 2025, clearly demonstrating that these areas are part of Cambodian sovereign territory.

In an official statement, the defence ministry described the Thai actions as “constituting a flagrant violation of the ceasefire and posing a grave threat to peace and security along the border between the two countries, as well as to the wider region”.

The areas are on Cambodian sovereign territory and were under full control of Cambodian forces after the ceasefire, it added.

Cambodia calls on the international community — particularly the partner nations that have worked tirelessly to help achieve the hard-won ceasefire and wish to see it fully and effectively implemented — to demand that Thailand immediately stop its aggressive actions and strictly respect international law, especially Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
